Orca Survey. She has been on
staff since 1987 and has published
several articles on orca research.
She developed software for capture
of routinely collected research data.

Kelley Balcomb-Bartok is the
Director of Development and
Outreach for the Center
for Whale Research.
Kelley's responsibilities include
producing the Center's many
annual guides, developing new
materials produced by the Center,
along with website management
and development.

John Durban, PhD
Research Coordinator
John Durban leads the
Killer Whale Ecological Studies
Team (KWEST), a collection of
researchers from government,
academic and non-profit groups,
which co-ordinates and conducts
collaborative studies on the role
of killer whales within North Pacific
marine ecosystems.

Katie Jones
Staff Assistant,
Vessel Captain
Katie Jones graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in Zoology and has been interested in whales since she was a small child. Katie lives on San Juan Island working as a naturalist, a vessel captain and staff at CWR. Katie has also spent time on Maui working as a research assistant for the Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary.
