Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) agents Tammy Schmidt and
Monique Lance tie buoys to the pectoral fin of the dead transient female killer whale
CA189. The bouys aid in keeping the body afloat during the tow and make the body
more visible as the dead animal is towed over several miles to a nearby boat ramp.
