Encounter #4 �January 26 � J's and K's in San Juan Channel

David Ellifrit went out on Western Prince with Ivan Reiff and crew and found half of J pod and four K pod whales just outside Friday Harbor (48 32.80 122 58.67) around 10:30 heading slowly ESE down San Juan Channel. The whales were loosely spread out in small groups. They turned south at Turn Island and continued down San Juan Channel where we left them at 1200 just south of Pear Pt. (48 29.96 122 58.23). Whales present by subgroup: J17, J28, J35, J44, J46, J47 - J22, J34, J32, J38 - J27, J31, J39 - K21, K40, K16, and K35. 17 whales total.
