Encounter # 16 �May 24 �T20, T86A and T86A2 �Harney Channel

Departed Snug Harbor: 3:34 p.m.
Begin Encounter: 4:18 p.m.
Start Lat: 48° 35.278 N
Start Long: 122° 55.568 W
End Encounter: 6:39 p.m.
End Lat: 48° 35.807 N
End Long: 123° 02.556 W
Returned to Snug Harbor: 7:06 p.m.

Center staff responded to a report of Transients in Upright Channel, May 23. T40, T86A and T86A2 were encountered in Harney Channel, between Shaw Island and Orcas Island, at 4:18 p.m. The whales were traveling west in a tight group. At 4:45 p.m. the whales started milling off the Shaw Island ferry landing. They apparently made an unknown kill and and continued west. At 5:25 p.m. the T's made another kill, this time the observed prey was a harbor seal. The whales entered San Juan Channel where the encounter ended at 6:39 p.m.
